Fall on the River of No Return ©

A glorious fall morning with the sun shining on the Sawtooth Valley and the Salmon River of Idaho. With its headwaters near Galena Summit, the Salmon winds its way 425 miles dropping over 7,000 vertical feet through some the most rugged country in the world. Also known as the River of No Return with Lewis and Clark describing it as “foaming and roaring through rocks in every direction, so as to render the passage of anything impossible.” It is one of the longest rivers in the world without a dam.
